A Changing Environment Requires Appropriate Solutions

Technology at the Social Innovation Centre focuses on practical digital tools that support social insight, health understanding, and human-centred innovation. Our work combines experimental technologies — including augmented reality and emerging AI approaches — with research and social analysis. The goal is not technology for its own sake, but tools that help better understand human behaviour, communication, and wellbeing.

iSeeApp is an experimental augmented reality application developed to explore how digital layers can support perception, interpretation, and interaction with physical environments. The project investigates how AR tools can help people understand complex information more intuitively by overlaying contextual insights onto real-world objects and spaces.

Alongside AR experimentation, the Social Innovation Centre is developing capabilities in artificial intelligence, particularly in areas that connect technology with social insight. Current exploration focuses on tools that analyse public discourse, interpret social signals, and support evidence-based decision-making.

Rather than building generic AI systems, SIC focuses on applied AI tools that complement social research and innovation practice.

Data Intelligence

Data intelligence initiatives focus on developing systems that collect and interpret signals from social, behavioural, and environmental data. These tools support monitoring of emerging societal trends and enable evidence-informed responses to complex challenges such as ageing, health, and social participation.
