EVENT | Final conference of the NICE project
Do you know what the European Charter of Fundamental Rights is? It’s a legal document that for the first time combines civil and political rights (freedom of expression, prohibition of the death penalty, etc.), economic and social rights (right to strike, access to medical care), as well as so-called “third generation” rights (environmental protection, consumer rights, right to peace, bioethics, data protection).
The Europe for Citizens project “NICE: Nobody Ignores the Charter of Europe” aims to analyze European memory and history, with a particular focus on the topic of fundamental human rights in the European Union. The project is implemented by 3 organizations in 3 European countries – Unique Projects in Lithuania, Social Innovation Centre in Latvia and Consiglio Italiano del Movimento Europeo in Italy.
On 22 September 2022, the final conference of the project took place in Kaunas, during which the activities and results of the project will be presented to the local community. During the project, 3 international conferences are organized in Rome, Riga and Kaunas. The project also carried out a study involving in-depth interviews aimed at understanding how respondents perceive their human rights as EU citizens and identifying which rights and freedoms are most important to them.
